CREATING A STOP MOTION MOVIE
Shared by Blanca González:
The objective of the activity I want to propose to my pupils is to create a story on images. The final work, depending on their possibilities, will be a comic or a stop motion short movie.

During this
Easter holidays I asked them to read a comic, ‘Asterix in Spain’ as a way to
introduce the next unit.
On first
place we are going to analyse from page 5 to page 8. They have to summarize
what happens as if it were a storyboard.
Afterwards
I´ll explain the different types of shots in comic and in stop motion.

Next, they should
classify the different frames that there are on the three previous pages analysed.
Then they must
invent a story and make the storyboard.
Later, they
will choose between a comic or a stop motion to carry out their creation, like these ones:
I’ll propose
these applications they can use to create:

2. C for Content
|
This unit covers contents referred to the elements that make up the
visual language.
The world around us is shown in colour. The things we see are not only
differentiated by their shape, size, also by their colour .
Every time we observe nature or an urban landscape we can appreciate
the amount of colours that are around us thanks to the light that affects the
objects.
A fundamental element to build visual messages is colour.
The contents of this didactic unit are:
- Light and the perception of colour: how we see the things that
surround us.
- The light colour and the pigment color. The mixtures.
- The chromatic circle: primary and secondary colours.
- The qualities of color: tone, value and saturation.
- Harmony and contrast.
- Dynamism and temperature of colours.
-The expressive values of color: meaning of colours. Psychology and
symbolism of colour.
- How to use color: art and advertising.

6. Activities
|
Activity 1:
Discover the colours with a triangular structure (Goethe triangle).
Justification of the activity: students love to work
manually on special watercolor paper with water techniques and brushes. The
mixtures of colours discover the control and the measure.
The colour triangle allows to organize by
primary, secondary and tertiary colours. The primary colours are placed at the points of the
triangle: yellow, magenta and cyan blue.
A primary colour is mixed with
another primary colour to obtain a secondary color and place it in the center.
Example: Yellow + Cyan blue= Green
The mixture of
secondary and primary is a more dirty tertiary colour.
Example:
Yellow+Green+red= warm brown
They form
ranges of similar colour, which participate in each other.
-
Application of
geometry: Draw an equilateral triangle of 12 centimeters on each side and
divide it internally into 9 equilateral triangles.
-
Application of
pictorial technique: painting with tempera.
- Application of
Goethe theory of colour: discover and transmit
with colour a state of mind
- Activity 2
|
7. Tasks
|
-
Using the Goethe colour triangle, the
students can identify and asses the power of colours.
-
This knowledge about emotions and colours
will be applied in the analysis of pictures, fashion and advertising.
